TerrainX: one record for a chain of land management contractors
Environmental land management is rarely done by one business. A land manager plans the work, a contractor wins it, and parts of the job pass down to specialist sub-contractors. Every link in that chain keeps its own version of the job: a spreadsheet here, an email thread there, a paper quotation in a van.
TerrainX is the platform we are building to give the whole chain one record. It is in build, UK first, and stands on its own.

The problem with a chain of contractors
When the plan, the quotation, the method statement and the status of a job each live somewhere different, the cost is not one big failure. It is a steady drip of small ones: the wrong version of a document on site, a quotation that does not match what was asked for, a land manager chasing three businesses to find out whether a job has started.
The hard part is not any single screen. It is keeping a chain of independent businesses working from the same facts.
How it works
Territories and projects, on a map. Land managers set out their territories and the projects within them on a map, so the work is anchored to the land it happens on.
Jobs and quotations for works. Within a project, they raise jobs and request quotations for works from contractors.
A native contractor chain. Contractors quote, accept, and sub-contract parts of a job down the chain, so every party sees the same job, the same documents and the same status.
Documents read on arrival. Quotations, method statements and site documents are read as they come in and filed against the job they belong to, rather than left in someone's inbox.
Every party sees the same job, the same documents and the same status.
Who it is for
Land managers, forestry and environmental contractors, and the clients who commission their work. It replaces the spreadsheets, email and paper quotations that currently pass up and down a chain of contractors and sub-contractors.
How we are building it
TerrainX is a standalone product. In the product, Google Document AI and Claude read quotations and site documents on intake, so the paperwork that drives a job becomes structured information attached to it.
It is multi-tenant from the start: each business in the chain has its own space, and shares exactly the parts of a job it should see with the parties above and below it.
What it shows about our client work
Multi-tenant platforms with mapping, document intake and a transactional workflow between many parties. That is the shape of a great many client builds: several organisations, one process between them, and a lot of documents in the middle. TerrainX is where we prove we can make that work.
