Pulse: turning a prize draw into a customer-data engine

53Alpha14 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

Competitions collect names, not customers. A business runs a prize draw, thousands of people enter, and at the end it holds a list of names and email addresses: often duplicated, rarely verified, and no wiser about who those people are. Market research costs months and a real budget; loyalty apps and long surveys are quietly ignored. Meanwhile third-party data is disappearing.

Pulse makes it a fair exchange. It wraps profiling inside a prize draw the customer actually wants to play, and every entry becomes a first-party customer record the merchant owns, with consent and attribution attached. Pulse is live, at version 1.5.

Disclose, earn, learn

Each answer a customer gives earns them a better chance to win and moves them towards a higher status tier, and each answer teaches the business something real. Every question is scored by its value and its sensitivity, so disclosure feels like play rather than paperwork. The customer enjoys it and comes back; the business quietly gains a customer-research function it never had to staff.

We make first-party data feel like a game, not a form.

Three things that make Pulse different

AI writes the questions. Give Pulse a brand name, website and social accounts, and its AI reads that public footprint and writes a bespoke, industry-aware question library in under a minute: 35 to 50 questions, each scored for value and dated with how long the answer stays valid, ready for you to approve. You never write a question yourself.

It never asks the same question twice. The smart question engine compares your highest-priority questions with what each customer has already answered, retires anything that has expired, and serves only the most valuable unanswered question for that person, right now. Over months and across draws, a single email address grows into a deep, structured profile. We call it dynamic progressive profiling.

AI turns answers into decisions. After every campaign, Pulse reads the whole audience and writes the brief in four layers: personas for your most engaged customers, a one-page campaign summary, a full report with prioritised recommendations, and an executive summary with themes, sentiment and ranked actions for every question.

Everything else needed to run it

Viral referrals. Customers recruit customers, for growth without ad spend, with three layers of fraud protection.

Status tiers. Blue to Platinum, with live progress and a celebration at each step. Platinum can only be earned by referring.

A built-in CRM. Every entrant in one searchable database, with a full profile, a timeline and CSV export.

Channels and persistent QR codes. One code per channel that always routes to the live campaign, so you print or publish once, with attribution down to a single sticker.

The customer portal. A mobile-first journey in your own colours and logo, with no app to download and no password to remember.

Where it fits

One engine, many settings: a QR code on every restaurant table, a receipt or product page in retail, the lobby, merchandise and screens at an event, a street team for a community, the journey for an airline. Wherever a customer is paying attention for a moment, Pulse turns that moment into knowledge the business keeps.

What it shows about our client work

AI drafted code, tests and documentation during the build, but the live draw and the data capture are deterministic: AI where it helps, exact rules where fairness and consent matter.

Consumer-facing apps with data capture and reporting: public pages that take real traffic, forms that record consent, and dashboards that show the business what came in. Most client builds have a public side. Pulse is ours.
